New Defender: Igor Popović

After Marian Iancu declared that there will be no budget for transfers, and that Poli will only sign free-of-contract players, the first one on the list is Serbian central defender Igor Popović. At 27 years old he has spent his entire professional career at FK Spartak Subotica, totalling 128 appearances, and 8 goals, but also being on loan 3 times. The 1m85 defender appears to be a welcome arrival, considering Nibombé's parting.

How good, it remains to be seen.

Duško Dukić signs with Poli

In other news, 23 year-old right back Duško Dukić has signed with Poli. He comes from the Serbian outfit Hajduk Kula, and he describes himself as a fast, technical player, who also likes to participate in attack. He considers this a step forward in his career, coming from a smaller club. The management's intentions for him are cleary to be a challenge for Bonfim, who plays the same position as the Serb.

New Coach: Vladimir Petrović

Vladimir Petrović is one of Red Star Belgrade's legends, where he had an excellent career. It was also the place where he started coaching, before being appointed to the Serbia and Montenegro national U-21 team. His op achievement is a runners-up place at the 2004 European Championship.

He head a venture in China, coaching a club team, then failing to qualify to the World Cup with the national team. His last appointment was with the same Red Star Belgrade last season. He was sacked before the end, after a defeat, despite leaving the club on the top position.

The Serbian fans already regret him, and he is pleased with his recently signed contract. Petrović hopes to achieve good results in the European matches, and considers Poli to be a an important name, especially after playing the Champions League play-offs last year. He is also looking forward to a good relationship with the management.
